Dit is een natuurlijke verhevenheid op het bot. Over dit botpuntje loopt een grote peesplaat welke tijdens het (hard-)lopen hier druk op uitoefent. Met name bij hardlopers kan hier irritatie ontstaan. Indien dit het geval is gaat het vaak gepaard met heftige pijn.<\/p>\n<p><strong>De klachten ontstaan veelal als gevolg van overbelasting<\/strong> en niet geheel onbelangrijk als gevolg van te lang doorlopen op oude sportschoenen (waar de demping inmiddels grotendeels uit verdwenen\u00a0is). Er kunnen verschillende structuren aangetast zijn. Het botvlies, de peesplaat of de tussenliggende slijmbeurs.
