Uit de cochrane database is bewijs gedestilleerd voor het positieve effect van acupunctuur bij fibromyalgie klachten. Negen onderzoeken werden gevonden met in totaal 395 deelnemers. De schrijvers concluderen allen dat er een laag tot gemiddeld bewijs is gevonden dat acupunctuur in vergelijking met het ontbreken van therapie of gewone westerse therapie de stijfheid en pijn bij fibromyalgie sterker kan verminderen en het welzijnsgevoel sterker verbetert.<\/p>\n

Daarbij vonden ze eveneens gemiddeld bewijs dat electro-acupunctuur beter werkte dan gewone acupunctuur. Het effect van de verbetering door acupunctuur duurde \u00e9\u00e9n maand en was zes maanden na de laatste behandeling niet meer aanwezig.
